PETERSEN MEDIA: A wild week for Destiny Motorsports culminated with an interesting Saturday in Mesquite, TX that saw David Gravel finish 16th in the Texas Outlaw Nationals, after having issues with their rig on the way to the speedway.
“It was an interesting day for our team,” Gravel said. “We had some issues with our rig on the way to the track, and showed up right before hot laps, but everyone did a great job, and we had a pretty good first night together.”
Once at the track and able to focus on racing, Gravel had a strong practice session, which led to him timing in 16th fastest after going out near the tail end of time trials.
Lining the MonDak Portables/Ft. Union Supply and Trading/Benic Enterprises No. 7 machine up in the third row of his heat race, the Watertown, CT driver would finish in the sixth spot, and move into the feature event, as the team continued to get Gravel comfortable in the car.
Gravel would line his machine up in the eighth row of the feature event, but as the race came to life, he was involved in a wreck coming to green flag, and went to work area to get his Rick Rogers Construction/Maxim Chassis/Boss Signs and Graphics entry looked over.
Able to restart the race, Gravel would start from the 23rd starting position, before working his way back forward. On the extremely slick Devil’s Bowl Speedway, Gravel would take a liking to the bottom of the speedway, as he was able to get back to the 16th spot, as the race came to a close.
“It was a nightmare getting to the track, but I think we will be good moving forward,” Gravel said. “We had a pretty good car in the feature event, and if we don’t get caught up in the wreck, I think we finish in the Top-10. The guys did a great job working with me all night. I really have to thank Rick and Barb Rogers for giving me this opportunity, and I am really looking forward to getting this car into victory lane.”
Destiny Motorsports would like to thank MonDak Portables, Ft. Union Supply and Trading, Benic Enterprises, Rick Rogers Construction, Maxim Chassis, Boss Signs and Graphics, Rod End Supply, Driver Websites, Petersen Media, , GME Manufacturing, ButlerBuilt, Simpson Race Products, Parker Engines, Keizer Wheels, DMI, Red Devil Brakes, Champion Oil, All Pro Cylinder Heads, and Hoosier Tire for their support in 2015.
