Freeman Records Pair of Top Fives During Season Debut in Oklahoma

Inside Line Promotions – OKLAHOMA CITY, Okla. (April 27, 2015) – Cody Freeman continued his banner season by earning a pair of top fives in Oklahoma last weekend.

“It’s awesome,” he said. “It feels like we got a win up there. It gave us quite a bit of confidence.”

Freeman kicked off the weekend on Friday by competing with the NOW600 Series at Creek County Speedway in Sapulpa, Okla., where he advanced from sixth to fourth place in the heat race. Freeman then finished sixth in the qualifier to lock into the feature inversion, which lined him up on the pole for the main event.

“The Tulsa Shootout restrictor winner was there so to know I got pole was pretty cool,” he said. “I was running the bottom and the middle on the straightaway during the feature and she was running the top and then she just blew by me. I was like, ‘Oh my gosh, I’ve got to start running where she is running.’ It didn’t work and I fell back to third.”

Freeman maneuvered back into second place and he maintained that position until the final lap when he dropped to third place, which marked his first top-five finish at the bullring and his second podium of the season with the NOW600 Series.

The team elected to stay in Oklahoma on Saturday and compete at I-44 Riverside Speedway, where Freeman maneuvered from fifth to third place in a heat race. That started him seventh in the main event.

“We mostly tried to pass cars on the bottom because they were all running the top,” he said. “I got held up by a slower car and he got really, really sideways. Another car jumped in front of me. I was able to get by him later and we finished fourth.”

Freeman’s fourth-place result marked his fourth top five of the season.

He is slated to take this weekend off before returning to Oklahoma on May 8 at Creek County Speedway with the NOW600 Series and May 9 at I-44 Riverside Speedway.
