Inside Line Promotions – OWASSO, Okla. (April 20, 2015) – Tony Bruce Jr. has high expectations entering this weekend’s Texas Outlaw Nationals.

Bruce Jr. will put a 410ci engine into his sprint car to compete for the first time this season with the World of Outlaw Sprint Car Series at Devil’s Bowl Speedway in Mesquite, Texas, during the $20,000-to-win event.

“Realistically if we could put it in the top 10 each night that’d be a successful weekend for us,” he said. “We want to try to go out to win every race, but those guys are definitely tough. However, I have a lot of laps around that track and feel really comfortable there.”

Bruce Jr. drove into the World of Outlaws main event each night last year at the half-mile track, where he placed 17th and 18th, respectively.

“The thing I remember about last year was the double-file restarts were the only thing that held me back from getting a top-10 finish each night,” he said. “It seemed like on the double-file restarts I got it handed to me. I just was not mentally prepared for what to expect. A lot of times on the initial start of the race people aren’t as aggressive. With the double-file restarts those guys are definitely on it and they get after it. I learned from it and hopefully I’ll do a lot better job at it this year.”

While Bruce Jr. doesn’t have a lot of laps in a 410 at Devil’s Bowl Speedway, he has earned multiple top 10s during each of the past five seasons there. He won a pair of Lucas Oil ASCS National Tour races at the track last season.

“Devil’s Bowl is a track that I took to from the time I first started racing there,” he said. “It’s very unique and challenging, which slows the learning curve for a lot of people. You have to race the corners different from one side of the track to the other. That’s part of the fun about racing there. You have to earn your success.”

Bruce Jr. was slated to compete last Saturday in Missouri with the Lucas Oil ASCS National Tour, but the race was cancelled because of the weather.
