It all begins on Saturday night. The chase for the 2015 Dodge City Raceway Park track championships kicks off with this Saturday’s season opening card atop the 3/8-mile clay oval in southwest Kansas.
The inaugural event for the Precise Racing Products DCRP Sprint Cars headlines a full night of action that also includes the first round of championship chase action for IMCA Modifieds, IMCA Sport Modifieds, IMCA Stock Cars and IMCA Hobby Stocks.
Saturday’s action goes green at 7:30 p.m.
A stout field of cars is expected for the initial round of Precise Racing Products DCRP Sprint Car competition that features a rules package identical to the United Rebel Sprint Series with the exception that the 5x5 top wing and Racesaver right rear tire will be permitted for the three stand-alone DCRP Sprint Car events on April 11, April 25 and June 13.
Saturday’s opener marks the first of seven rounds of competition for the Precise Racing Products DCRP Sprint Cars including four URSS events along the way.
While the initial Precise Racing Products DCRP Sprint Car title is up for grabs, several drivers will begin title defenses with Saturday’s opener including Austin Allen, Jeff Kaup, Perry Misner and Matt O’Hair.
Wichita’s Austin Allen captured his second consecutive IMCA Modified championship last year, taking the title by a mere 10-point margin over Ryan Heger with Cole Traugott, Mike Lunow and Nick Link also among the final top five.
In the IMCA Sport Modified ranks, Woodward, Oklahoma’s Jeff Kaup snared his second straight title as well by an 84-point margin over Josh Appel with Austin Walker, Toby Witthuhn and Tristan Barton rounding out the top five.
Perry Misner picked off his second IMCA Stock Car title over the past three years, taking the top spot by 72 points over Michael Pepper with Dusty Witthuhn, Reagan Sellard and Randy Dowell also in the top five
Saturday’s card will mark the first round of action for IMCA Hobby Stocks at Dodge City Raceway Park, with the Hobby Stocks replacing the former Thunder Car division that was topped by Matt O’Hair last year.
General admission tickets to Saturday’s action are just $10, with children 11 and under admitted free when accompanied by an adult. Pit admission is $30.
Saturday’s season opener will mark the first of 15 nights of competition at Dodge City Raceway Park with a number of special events along the way, highlighted by the World of Outlaws Sprint Cars Boothill Showdown on July 3-4.
