Ziehl Springs to Easter Eggstravaganza Win at CSP
Lonnie Wheatley, PEORIA, Ariz. (April 4, 2015) – Rick Ziehl took top honors in Saturday night’s Easter Eggstravaganza event by racing to victory lane in the 25-lap ASCS Southwest Region winged Sprint Car main event atop the 1/3-mile clay oval.
While Ziehl continued his ASCS Southwest mastery, other Easter Eggstravaganza winners included Mike Strobl in 9th World Vapor IMCA Modified action, Matt Martinez in Arizona Differential Pure Stocks, Joe Vlasity in Scottsdale Muffler & Automotive Renegades and Tyler Merrill in AMA Mod Lites.
The reigning ASCS Southwest champion, Ziehl raced from the pole position to take the win ahead of eighth-starter Lance Norick with wingless ace R.J. Johnson racing from 13th to round out the podium in third. Ryan Linder and Kaylene Verville rounded out the top five.
Mike Strobl picked up his first 9th World Vapor IMCA Modified feature win of the year at CSP by racing to the checkered flag ahead of George Fronsman with Ryan Roath, Shawn Zelenka and Garrett Funk rounding out the top five.
Matt Martinez took Arizona Differential Pure Stock honors ahead of Zack Madrid and Chris McCurdy, Jr., with Joe Vlasity besting the Scottsdale Muffler & Automotive Renegade ranks with Joe Peterson and David Harrington also on the podium
Tyler Merrill rounded out the night’s winners by taking AMA Mod Lite honors in front of Adam Etcher and Austin Kuehl.
Next up at Canyon Speedway Park is the Color Obstacle Rush on April 18 followed by the Fifth Annual Canyon Clash on Saturday, May 2, featuring the non-wing USAC Southwest Sprint Cars along with 9th World Vapor IMCA Modifieds, Micro Sprints and Arizona Differential Pure Stocks.
