Inside Line Promotions – WICHITA FALLS, Texas (April 7, 2015) – Brandon Hanks endured the wildest ride of his career last Friday at Red River Speedway.

Hanks was in contention for a top 10 during the inaugural ASCS Red River Region event when he collided with another car entering turn three. The contact forced Hanks to flip several times, which destroyed his race car.

“That was definitely the roughest one I’ve had to take,” he said. “I bet I flipped five or six times. It was a rough ride.”

The night began with Hanks advancing from sixth to fifth place during his heat race on the fast track.

“We were hammer down around the top,” he said. “It was just a one-lane track, but it was a fast, little bullring. I liked the track.”

That relegated Hanks into a B Main, in which he maneuvered from fourth to second place to transfer into the main event.

“Even into the B Mains the racing line was still around the top,” he said. “About halfway through the first B Main it got too far out and you could start running the bottom. Then it was fun. You could try to get your right rear against the wall, you could try through the middle or run the very bottom.”

Hanks lined up on the inside of the ninth row for the main event.

“It was pretty racy at first and then the track took rubber right around the bottom pretty quickly,” he said. “Before you knew it we were freight training on the bottom. You had to wait on somebody to make a mistake to get by them. I got two or three positions on the start and then started going through the field.”

Unfortunately, another car came down on Hanks entering turn three with a top-10 finish in reach.

“He came down on me going down the back straightaway,” he said. “My right front was at his hood. When he cut down on me my right rear tire jumped his left rear. It was over from there. It was stars and the ground, stars and the ground. Then I closed my eyes because I didn’t want to see it anymore.”

Hanks was credited with a 12th-place result.

He is slated to race this weekend with the ASCS Red River Region on Friday at Creek County Speedway in Sapulpa, Okla., and Saturday at Superbowl Speedway in Greenville, Texas.

Hanks finished 12th, 11th and seventh, respectively, during his three races at Creek County Speedway last season. Saturday will mark his debut at Superbowl Speedway.
