The Engine Pro ASCS Sprints on Dirt presented by ARP is looking to outrun Mother Nature with a pair of events over Labor Day weekend to near the conclusion of the 2009 season.
Friday night the series will try for a second time to compete at the Winston Motor Speedway in Rothbury, Michigan and Saturday at Crystal Motor Speedway in Crystal, Michigan where the two previously scheduled programs were completed with no weather issues.
After a rainout on July 19th Friday’s event at Winston will mark the only appearance on the far west coast for the ASCS SOD series during the 2009 season. During last year’s event at Winston defending ASCS SOD champion Brett Mann rode a large curb that developed around the top of the high banked 3/8-mile oval.
Mann with his Rowlee and Frohlich owned team lead the point standings again coming into Winston as the team looks for the second straight point championship.
Crystal Motor Speedway is on the tracks Dustin Daggett has turned into his personal playground over the past two seasons. Daggett has victories in the two previous ASCS SOD features at Crystal and two wins during the 2008 campaign. Daggett looks to extend his win streak to five to sweep the trio of SOD events at Crystal in his Mott Motorsprots car.
Racing on both Friday and Saturday starts at 7:30 p.m. EST.
The Engine Pro ASCS Sprints on Dirt presented by ARP is in its 30th season of competition. Twenty-two point paying races are on the calendar with three special non-point races making up the 25 event schedule contested throughout Michigan, Ohio, and into Canada.
The American Sprint Car Series, in its 18th year of sanctioning Sprint Car racing events, brings the best of Sprint Car racing to nearly 100 different tracks throughout 25 states and Canada in 2009.
