Freeman Rallies from Back to Sixth-Place Finish During Nolan Wren Memorial

Inside Line Promotions – WILLIS, Texas (April 6, 2015) – Cody Freeman had a great rebound last Saturday during the 4th annual Nolan Wren Memorial.

Freeman was unable to finish his micro sprint heat race at Gator Motorplex. That forced him to start at the back of the field for the main event, in which he rallied from 13th to a sixth-place result.

“It was a letdown (to not win for the third straight race), but I’m going to chalk it up as a learning experience and remember what not to do,” he said.

Freeman was running third during an early caution after starting on the inside of the second row of his heat race.

“In the heat race there was a car on the track that broke down or something,” he said. “We had five pace laps and I never cleared the carburetor. The spark plug got flooded with fuel and it wouldn’t run right so I pulled to the infield.”

Freeman was relegated to the 13th starting position for the main event after being unable to finish his heat race.

“My goal was to get them on the start,” he said. “I was up to eighth on the initial start and the caution came out so I had redo that.”

Freeman passed four cars on the second attempt at starting the race to advance into ninth place on the opening lap. He then maneuvered around four other cars throughout the feature to crack the top five.

“On the last lap I went in the middle and I had a bad push,” he said. “It let a car get by me so I ended up finishing sixth.”

After winning his first two races of the season, Freeman’s result means he has earned a top 10 in every race this outdoor season.

He will be off the next couple of weeks before returning to action on April 24 at Creek County Speedway in Sapulpa, Okla., with the NOW600 Series and on April 25 at 281 Speedway in Stephenville, Texas, with the TOWR Series.
