Inside Line Promotions – GREENVILLE, Texas (March 30, 2015) – Cody Freeman is now 2-for-2 this season.
Freeman captured his second career micro sprint feature victory in as many races this season when he led the distance of the 15-lap feature last Saturday at Superbowl Speedway. It also marked his first triumph with the NOW600 Series and TOWR Series.
“It feels as exciting as my first win,” he said. “I do have a lot more confidence.”
Freeman kicked off the event by charging from seventh to third place in a heat race, which gave him the most points overall and the pole position for the main event.
“I was just patient and waited for them to make mistakes so I could go underneath them,” he said of his heat race success. “I was trying to pass one car for every lap. By the time I got to third place first and second was already way ahead of me.”
Freeman said his team made minor changes heading into the feature, which went nonstop with Freeman in the lead.
“It’s stressful with all the guys behind you,” he said. “I was just counting laps and trying to keep my mind off them being behind me so I didn’t feel the pressure and make a mistake.”
He lapped his first car on Lap 6 and entered thick traffic on Lap 13, but still won by a straightaway to continue building momentum entering the 4th annual Nolan Wren Memorial this Saturday at Gator Motorplex in Willis, Texas.
“We’re going to try to keep winning,” he said. “This weekend is a big race and all the Dallas and Houston guys are coming and maybe some from Oklahoma. We have our work cut out for us.”
Last Friday’s race at Mountain Creek Speedway in Grand Prairie, Texas, was cancelled because of weather.
