Brownstown, Indiana
Robert Ballou continued his hot streak by picking up the $7500 payday at Brownstown Speedway's annual "No Way Out 40" event. Originally scheduled for Saturday the event was pushed back to Sunday due to weather conditions, this gave Ballou the rare opportunity to race on his birthday.
Chilly weather conditions brought out 28 cars to compete for the $7500 prize, group qualifying resulted in Ballou starting in 3rd in his heat and finishing 2nd to Brady Short. The program moved along quickly with Ballou slated to start 6th in the 40 lap feature. Kevin Thomas Jr picked up the early lead in the race with Ballou hard charging to second by lap 12. Ballou continued to gain momentum and after 3-4 slide job filled laps was able to secure the lead over Thomas and then never looked back. Celebrating his birthday in victory lane, Ballou picked up his third win of the non wing season.
"Initially our plan was to come and check this motor out that we had gotten back and make sure everything felt good, I can't say enough good things about these Don Ott motors and what they have done for our program as well as a few things Derrick Bye and I have been trying. Brownstown went out on a limb for this race when a lot of other promoters would have canceled, the track was in great condition for the feature and it gave us the chance to put on a show for these hard core fans that came out in the chilly weather." Ballou commented.
Ballou continued on to thank all involved sponsors: Don Ott Racing Engines, MAXIM Chassis, Indy Race Parts, Hoosier Tire, MPHG Promotions, Lucas Oil Racing Products, Hinchman Racewear, Butler Built Seats, Hooker Harness, Keizer Wheels, Infinity Shocks, Manvel Motorsports, Deaton's Waterfront Services, Alloy Wheel Repair and Blakesley Auto.
Next scheduled race for the team is April 4, 2015 with the USAC National Sprint Cars at Lawrenceburg, IN.
