Inside Line Promotions – PUYALLUP, Wash. (March 29, 2015) – A victory has eluded Trey Starks at Yakima Dirt Track, where he has been in contention for a trip to Victory Lane the past few years.
Starks, who will compete at the semi-banked track on the fairgrounds in Yakima, Wash., this Saturday with the Summer Thunder Sprint Series, has earned a top-four result during four of his last six races there.
“We’ve had seconds, thirds and fourths,” he said. “We’ve always been in contention to win. I’m looking forward to Saturday. I think we can have a good run. A win is what we’re looking for and is what we expect.”
Starks battled for a victory during his two races at the track last season. He was running second before being caught up in a spin in traffic, which relegated him to a 13th-place result. Starks also ended fourth in his most recent event at Yakima Dirt Track.
“We’ve been fast,” he said. “We just need to put all the pieces together.”
Starks earned a pair of podiums in 2012 when he finished second and third during his two races. He was also fourth and seventh in 2011.
“It’s one of the bigger tracks around here,” he said. “You need to be smooth. It’s pretty flat so you have to be careful where you run. You need to be good in the slick, too.”
