The first race of the season at the Central Washington State Fair Grounds Dirt Track in Yakima is rapidly approaching and a few new sponsors have stepped up to increase the purses for both classes.
T & C Auto Care and Tire from Richland has added some money to the modified purse. "I really like the Modifieds and it's great that we have a promoter that is bringing a first class operation to the Yakima track" said T&C owner Mike Coyner, "There are a lot of really good modifieds in the Northwest and I want to see them racing in Yakima". The new purse is 1st -$1,000 to win, 2nd - $600, 3rd - 350, 4th - $300, 5th - $250.
The sprint car purse has also been raised to 1st - $3,000 to win, 2nd - $1,500, 3rd - $1,000.
"It is our goal to make this a special race that all the racers and fans look forward to throughout the winter" said event promoter Steve Beitler, "The practice and Chili feed on Friday night will be a great way to start the weekend".
The fans are invited to come into the pit area during practice from 5pm to 8pm and get a close up look at the teams working on the cars and see what goes on behind the scenes. The fans are also invited to enjoy the chili feed with their favorite driver. Pit credentials are $20. Must be 12 years or older to come into the pit area.
