Inside Line Promotions – TUCSON, Ariz. (March 10, 2015) – Everything is working like a well-oiled machine in the Big Game Motorsports camp following back-to-back top fives with the World of Outlaws Sprint Car Series last weekend.
After a mechanical issue stymied the Muddy sponsored sprint car last Wednesday during the opening night of the FVP Outlaw Showdown at The Dirt Track at Las Vegas in Las Vegas, driver Danny Lasoski was in contention for a victory with the premier sprint car series for the final two races in the desert.
Lasoski, who pulled into the infield early during Wednesday’s feature, kicked off Thursday’s race by qualifying 15th quickest after the team quickly changed an engine following hot laps.
“On the second night in Las Vegas a big shoutout goes to all my crew guys,” he said. “We stuck a valve during the first lap of hot laps. We had a short time to change engines. The engine wasn’t even up to temperature when we went out for qualifying.”
He then won a heat race to lock the Muddy car into the dash, where Lasoski maneuvered from eighth to sixth place to line up on the outside of the third row for the main event.
“There was passing everywhere,” he said. “I think speed-wise we were right there in the feature. It probably would have taken some lapped cars to slow those two guys down to allow someone to pass them. As drivers you can make all kinds of excuses, but at the end of the day we ran third.”
Lasoski’s third-place finish marked his third top five of the season.
The weekend concluded on Saturday at USA Raceway for the NAPA Wildcat Shootout. Lasoski opened the event by setting quick time in qualifying.
“We had some good hitters ahead of us who put down solid laps,” he said. “We cut a decent lap that was good enough for quick time.”
The Muddy sprint car then advanced from fourth to second place in a heat race to lock into the dash. Lasoski finished where he started – fourth – in the dash to line up on the outside of the second row for the main event.
“We knew the track was beginning to take rubber then,” he said. “They scratched the track a little bit. Basically whoever got out front first was going to win the race. When it’s a rubber-down race you have to get in line and take what you can get. We were trying too hard and let a couple of cars slip by us.”
Lasoski advanced to third before losing two positions when he slid out of the rubber. He ended with a fifth-place result.
The Muddy team is scheduled to compete next on April 11 at 34 Raceway in West Burlington, Iowa, during the inaugural National Sprint League event.
“We feel we have a really good team,” Lasoski said. “I’m very excited to get the season started with the NSL. We were successful with the All Stars and successful with the World of Outlaws. I’m very, very happy with the Muddy team and I think it will stay up front.”
