For the first time since 2006, dirt late models will return to Huset’s Speedway.
The addition of late models is the latest twist to the 5th annual Loren Barstad Memorial Race which will be held at Huset’s Speedway on Memorial Day, Monday May 25.
Barstad Memorial organizers are very excited to add the $8,000 total purse and $1,000 to win race for the Midwest’s best Late Model drivers.
The late model racing is in addition to the Barstad Memorial MSTS 360 Sprint Car event that will put national and regional sprint car drivers on the hunt for their share of a $12,000 total purse with $1,500 going to the winner.
That's $20,000 up for grabs between the 360 sprints and late models in an event that promises to be one of the most unique and exciting shows of 2015.
Jeff Wildung of Nassau, Minnesota, took the win at the last late model event at Huset’s Speedway held in June of 2006. Wildung led all 40 laps to take home the trophy ahead of Joel Cryderman of Thunder Bay, Ontario, Canada, and A.J. Diemel of Elk Mound, Wisconsin.
Terry McCarl of Altoona, Iowa, edged out Jack Dover of Springfield, Nebraska, in the 2014 Loren Barstad Memorial at Huset’s Speedway. The sprint car hot shoes swapped the lead numerous times in the 25 lap feature. Sioux Falls driver Eric Lutz rounded out the podium finishers.
