The American Sprint Car Series Midwest Region sets the stage for its championship weekend with one more event, this Friday night's Budweiser Sprint Car Challenge at U.S. 36 Raceway near Cameron, MO.
Friday's stop atop the lightning-fast, high banks of U.S. 36 Raceway marks the series second visit of the year to the Missouri oval, with Jesse Hockett rallying from seven rows deep to top the Midwest stop in June.
Friday's card also sets the table for the series final weekend of action in Nebraska, including a $2,001-to-win 9/11 tribute at Rising City's Butler County Motorplex and then the $5,000-to-win Nebraska Cup at Eagle Raceway on September 12.
Lincoln, Nebraska's Jason Danley enters Friday's action with a 100-point advantage over Giltner, Nebraska's Chad Humston, a winner of two series events this season.
South Dakota's Eric Lutz is third in Midwest points, while defending series champion and Lucas Oil Sprint Car contender Jack Dover of Springfield, NE, has climbed to fourth in points aboard Gary Swenson's No. 24a entry in Midwest competition.
Lee Grosz rounds out the current top five in points, with Sunday's Sedalia winner Brian Brown, Jonathan Cornell, Don Droud, Jr., Mike Boston and Ryan Anderson completing the current top ten.
Humston and Brown have both posted a pair of ASCS Midwest feature wins this year, with single wins claimed by Lutz, Cornell, Billy Alley, Shane Stewart, Bronson Maeschen, Hockett and Gary Wright.
The ASCS Midwest Regional forces will take on the Winged Outlaw Warriors in Friday night's Budweiser Sprint Car Challenge.
Friday's racing action atop the high-banked, 3/8-mile U.S. 36 Raceway clay oval is set to fire off at 8:00 p.m.
