Hard to believe we’re already in March! Equally hard to believe is that it was already a month ago that we had our first installment of the “Tuesday Top 10”! Last month we took a look back at the off-season and some of the major highlights, thought this might be a good time to look forward into 2015 and see what stories may be on the horizon. Too soon to say that the racing season is in “full-swing”, but without a doubt we can all feel it! Here are our Top 10 stories to keep an eye on in 2015:
#10) Those drivers who take the wing off from time-to-time
Always an interesting to see Clauson, Bacon, Bell, and several others outside of their regular ride - who will enjoy the most success in 2015?
#9) How much racing will Steve and Sammy do?
We all knew they couldn’t just walk away, but how much racing will they actually do - or will they simply just be on hand to sell tickets?
#8) Robert Ballou continues to make a name for himself!
Off to an impressive start in USAC, Ballou is always in contention.
#7) The new-look All-Stars and the recent transplant of Cody Darrah.
After the whirlwind that took place in the second half of 2014, the All-Stars and Tony Stewart are looking to make their presence felt in 2015.
#6) The micro sprint and 305 scenes continue to gain ground.
If the Tulsa Shootout is any sign of the state of micro sprint racing, look for these guys to continue to put on a show and reveal up and coming talent. And what about the number of 305 tracks and organizations popping up? It’s essential to have viable training grounds for drivers to move up into the 410 ranks.
#5) Schatz, Pittman, or ?
Will these two continue to dominate in the post-Steve/Sammy era, or will we see the likes of Kerry Madsen bolstering his resume?
#4) Rico, Bell, and others testing the asphalt circuits.
We wish them the best of luck, but sure hope to see them on dirt as much as their schedule allows.
#3) Aaron Reutzel on a tear early!
Can he keep the momentum going throughout the season to capture the ASCS Championship?
#2) Winged 410 Sprint Car Racing is as strong as it has been in several years.
With several new associations coming into the fore-front, 2015 should have no shortage of 410 sprint car racing shows!
#1) The 55th Annual FVP Knoxville Nationals
Can Schatz make it 5-in-a-row for the first time since Steve Kinser did it in the early 90s?
What did we miss? Something that should’ve been ranked higher? Let us know in the comments below or follow @sprintsource on Twitter.
