The AMSOIL USAC Sprint Car National Championship resumes April 4 at Lawrenceburg (Ind.) Speedway following cancellation of last Saturday night’s race at East Bay Raceway Park in Gibsonton, Fla. due to rain.
Chase Stockon of Elizabethtown, Ind., with a pair of seconds, a pair of fifths and a ninth, emerged as the series point leader and “Winter Dirt Games VI” champion after the five races held in Florida the past two weeks. He leads Kevin Thomas Jr. and Robert Ballou by 14 and 18 points respectively entering an April 4 race at Lawrenceburg, Ind.
Thomas, of Cullman, Ala., led all 30 laps to win Thursday night’s race at East Bay Raceway Park in Gibsonton, Fla. driving the Michael Dutcher Motorsports Bakken Concrete/Griffin’s Propane Maxim/Fisher. Dave Darland finished second ahead of Brady Bacon, C.J. Leary and Tracy Hines.
Ballou, of Rocklin, Calif., caught Thomas on lap 15 and led the final 16 laps of Friday night’s East Bay feature in his MPHG Promotions/Blakesley’s Auto Maxim/Ott. Darland was again second ahead of Thomas, Justin Grant and Stockon.
