Inside Line Promotions – TAMPA, Fla. (Feb. 23, 2015) – The Ronald Laney Memorial got off to a rough start for Jordan Weaver, who was on pace to win a Lucas Oil ASCS National Tour heat race last Thursday before mechanical issues forced her to the pits early.

Weaver led the first five laps of the heat race at East Bay Raceway Park until an engine problem stymied her with three laps remaining. She was unable to restart the race or make a B Main during the opening night of the memorial event.

“That really put us behind the eight ball,” she said. “The event calculated points from both preliminary nights so when you wipe out the first night it makes it really hard for the rest of the weekend.”

Friday didn’t get much better as Weaver was on the wrong end of a bad start to a heat race. Weaver swerved to the infield to avoid a mess of cars in front of her as the green flag waved, but was caught up in the muddy infield. Unfortunately, she was unable to finish the heat race and was forced to start near the back of a B Main.

Weaver then rallied from 13th to eighth during the consolation race, but missed a transfer by a few positions.

The weekend wrapped up on Saturday at East Bay Raceway Park, where Weaver placed 10th in a qualifier. That lined her up on the inside of the seventh row of a C Main.

“We got the car working really well on the high side during the C Main,” she said. “Since our first night ended after five laps and we had the heat race issue to start Friday, it took until midway through Saturday before we were able to get consistent laps to learn.”

Weaver powered from 13th to third place during the C Main to earn a transfer into the B Main. She then advanced from 15th to 11th to cap the weekend.

Weaver is slated to make her debut at Bubba Raceway Park in Ocala, Fla., this Friday and Saturday with the Lucas Oil ASCS National Tour.
