Brad Loyet – 2015 Begins This Weekend in Florida!

The Loyet Motorsports/Vacuworx Global #o5 sprint car team is ready to roll! This weekend finds the team at East Bay Raceway Park near Tampa, Florida for the Ronald Laney Memorial. Brad Loyet will race two weekends in Florida with ASCS, but 2015 will see a big change in the racing schedule. Rather than race anywhere for points, the team will compete in over eighty races, most of them 410 events.

Brad and the team will even mix in some midget action in 2015. “I think we have 12-15 360 races on our schedule,” he says. “We also have ten midget races here or there, when they run with the sprints. That will be for fun. The majority of our schedule will be 410 races.”

Coming to the track aiming for the win takes some pressure off of a driver who has chased points for several seasons. “Racing for points…you think you’re racing for the win every night, but you really aren’t some nights,” says Brad. “You’re thinking about points the whole time. It will be nice to roll into a track every night and let others worry about their points. We can go for the win.”

Most of the 360 events will occur early in the season. “We’re planning on running at East Bay and Ocala with ASCS,” says Brad. “After that, we’ll come back home and then go run some stuff in March with the ASCS-Gulf South series in south Texas. When April comes around, we’ll be wide open. We have 83 races on the schedule this year.”

Highlights this year will include Brad’s first trip to a number of venues. “We’re definitely running Ohio Speedweek,” he says. “One of the races I’m looking forward to the most is the ‘Ironman 55’ at Pevely (Missouri). We’ll get to not only run with the World of Outlaws, but run the midget (POWRi) that night too.”

The Sunset Hills, Missouri driver also is excited to get back to Knoxville, Iowa and visit a track in Wisconsin that has seen him pilot a midget before. “Obviously, the Knoxville Nationals is always a highlight,” says Brad. “It’s also going to be cool going to Angell Park Speedway (Sun Prairie, Wisconsin) and running a sprint car there (August 30 with the National Sprint League). We’ve run the midget there many times.”

Brad’s season actually began in January at Tulsa’s Chili Bowl. It went very well. He would finish second on his prelim night before finishing twelfth in the finale. Not bad, with around 300 midgets present. “We hadn’t run midgets since the 2014 Chili Bowl, so finishing second on our prelim night was really cool,” says Brad. “Everything went well that night. We were good on Saturday. Running twelfth is pretty good considering the caliber of cars and drivers we were in there with. Just making the ‘A’ was quite an accomplishment for us.”
