Inside Line Promotions – MARION, Ark. (Feb. 15, 2015) – The last two years have been the best two for Derek Hagar, who is hitting the road in 2015.
After setting a record for wins in a season with 10 in 2013 only to demolish that last year by capturing 16 feature victories, Hagar is prepared to continue that success as he opens this season next Thursday through Saturday at East Bay Raceway Park in Tampa, Fla., for the Ronald Laney Memorial with the Lucas Oil ASCS National Tour.
“We’ve improved as a team each year and the last two seasons have made great strides so I’m confident that we can take on the best drivers across the country in 2015,” he said. “It’s been a few years since I’ve raced in Florida so it’s exciting to be heading to the Ronald Laney Memorial.”
Hagar’s best performance during his limited time at East Bay Raceway Park was in 2009 when he finished 11th in the finale.
“It’s a challenging track and one that takes a lot of focus all night long,” he said. “We have a lot of confidence returning there and I think we’ll be a contender all weekend.”
Hagar, who scored his first two Lucas Oil ASCS National Tour triumphs last season, will also compete the following weekend with the Lucas Oil ASCS National Tour at Bubba Raceway Park in Ocala, Fla. It will be his debut at the 3/8-mile track.
“It will be great to be racing in February,” he said. “I enjoy the challenge of racing at a new track so hopefully we’ll be talking about a couple of wins over the next couple of weeks.”
