Freeman Preparing for Busy Season on Both Dirt and Asphalt

Inside Line Promotions – LONGVIEW, Texas (Feb. 3, 2015) – Cody Freeman is chomping at the bit to return to his race car.

Freeman is a little more than a month away from kicking off a busy season, which includes approximately 50 micro sprint races along with the opportunity to compete on asphalt.

“I’m tired of the offseason,” he said. “The simulator stuff just isn’t cutting it.”

Freeman is slated to kick off the 2015 outdoor season on March 7 at Gator Motorplex in Willis, Texas. It will be the first of more than four dozen micro sprint races throughout Texas and Oklahoma for the 12-year-old racer.

“At the end of last season we were so close to a win,” he said. “Hopefully early this season we’ll get a win or two.”

Freeman also has an opportunity racing trucks on asphalt. He tested a Super Truck in South Carolina last October, which was his first experience on asphalt.

“When we went up there to test it was really fun,” he said. “The biggest difference I noticed was how to roll onto the throttle. On the dirt you can slam on the gas. On asphalt if you slam on it you’ll spin out.”

Mart Nesbitt owns a Super Truck that Freeman will potentially test and compete in this year.

“I am very excited about continuing our relationship with Cody,” Nesbitt said. “Last year’s initial test went very well and he showed good speed and car control, especially given that it was his first time on asphalt. We are excited to continue testing this season as well as several asphalt races. He is a true driving talent.”
