Inside Line Promotions – TULSA, Okla. (Jan. 19, 2015) – Andee Beierle couldn’t catch a break – or brake – last weekend at the 29th annual Lucas Oil Chili Bowl Nationals.
Beierle, who was driving a midget for Daum Motorsports, lost her brakes during the heat race on Thursday’s preliminary night.
“I didn’t have any brakes in my heat,” she said. “It was really hard to pass and stay competitive when there were no brakes. You have to have brakes to stay on the bottom. It was kind of the luck of the draw literally with the draw and that the car wasn’t on point.”
Beierle, who started last in a heat race, finished with a seventh-place result. That relegated her to a D Main, where brake issues forced her to miss a transfer spot by one position.
“Chili Bowl could have gone a lot better, but I’m sure a lot of people are saying that right now,” she said. “There’s a lot of luck involved. Chili Bowl didn’t end up how I wanted it to, but I guess sometimes things can’t be helped.”
Her focus now shifts back to college for the next couple of months before the sprint car season begins on April 18 at Knoxville Raceway in Knoxville, Iowa.
“We’re going to try to run the full season in a 360 and try to hit other 360 shows throughout the Midwest,” she said. “We’re going to try to get as many shows as we can in a 360 this summer.”
Beierle competed at the famed half-mile oval last year in the 305ci division. This year will mark her first time racing in a 360.
