Bitner Wraps Up Successful 2014; Readies for a Strong 2015
TRENTON, N.J. - With the 2015 season right around the corner, Mark Bitner Motorsports takes a moment to reflect on the end of 2014 before looking forward to next year.
Bitner and company wrapped up the season just a few weeks after picking up a win at the New Egypt Speedway on August 23. Bitner led the entire feature in the NERS 305 division for the victory after winning the heat race. He finished the month with a 10th in the same division one week later.
September started with a rain out before a sixth place effort on September 13th. On September 20th, the team opted to go with a unique tire choice in hopes to finding something to take them to the front after before forced to start near the back of the pack. It ultimately proved to be the wrong decision with the team finishing 12th. Although the tire selection didn’t pan out, the team gained some valuable information for the setup notebook.
Unfortunately the season came to an early conclusion at the end of September. Two more races had been planned in September and October but those plans were put on the back burner when medical condition arose for team patriarch Fred Bitner. Due to the serious nature of the health problems racing had to take a back seat for the rest of the season.
Plans for next season are already in the works as a brand New Mach1 Chassis is being prepared for action with the United Racing Club as well as with the Empire Super Sprints. The team is also freshening up both the 360 powerplant and the 410 cubic inch engine which will see action as part of the USAC Eastern Storm events. Those hoping to get a sneak peak of the new car can visit the URC booth at Motorsports 2015 in Oaks, Pa., from January 23-25th.
