The 2014 season has come to a close, and what a whirlwind it was! Finally a chance to recap the last 3 races -- and give you all a glimpse into what's in store for 2015!!
Friday - 410 Oval Nationals - It was such a pleasant surprise when the rigs continued to pull in, one after another. 56 cars on hand for the 2014 Oval Nationals presented by Perris Auto Speedway and Mike at All Coast Construction! Hopefully this is a sign of things to come. Oval Nationals, is all about qualifying and making "the cut", the top 40, move the Heat races - and a finish of 4th or better will get you into the Main. Battling with a few of the top stars, Jake finished 3rd, just behind Hines and in front of Clauson. Such an accomplishment, as the line up for the B Main resembled a Main Event!! Lining up for the Main, what an impressive group!! Moving forward and on a charge, when all of a sudden, Jake's pulling in the pits, with engine woes! This is getting old....Okay, that's why there is a back up car sitting there. The best laid plans of Mice and Moose's don't always work out the way they are supposed to. Richard, RC Performance, had a nagging feeling - the back up engine had shown an oil gauge that was very inconsistent. The guys have replaced the gauge, nope, not that simple. Rc rearranged his day and arrived at the track with a spare oil pump, tank and anything he could think of that could be causing the concern. So, much for that idea, nothing solved the problem, so it was decided that there was no reason to risk having another engine fried. Kick into place, Plan C, drag out the 360 and run it for what it's worth.
Saturday - 410 Final Night, $ 10,000.00 to win!! The top 6 finishers from Friday night were automatically locked into Saturday's show. Jaw dropping, when Jake took to the track to qualify - and timed in 5th quick!! That, folks was with the 360!!! Only concern, is starting at the back of the heat race, with stout competition in front of him, and falling short with horsepower againest the power of the 410's. One spot short - it was on to one of the two B Main's. The little 360 was haning in there - running with the lead pack, when the car in front of Jake decided that it was beneficial for him to try a poorly executed slide job, and that was the end of The 2014 Oval Nationals.
