USAC HONDA .25 Program Welcomes Kart Kanyon Speedway to the Family
(Indianapolis) – The United States Auto Club welcomes another club to the already extended USAC Honda .25 division with the addition of Kart Kanyon Speedway located in Aztec, NM. “We are excited to add Kart Kanyon to our program,” said Kyle McCain, Director.
Kart Kanyon was originally established in 2001 by Ron Mason. Terry Bard, Dave Whitaker, Dave Lawson, Aztec Excavation, Ron Mason’s Family and many more volunteers spent countless hours getting the area ready for racing in 2002.
“Last year was my sons 1st year in a quarter midget as well as mine. He started at the age of 4½ and we trained all year and had a blast. Now that he is 5, we are ready to go racing! We are very new to quarter midget racing, but not to racing. I was lucky to have started out at a young age, with my dad taking me all over the western united states to race four-wheelers, car’s and pickup trucks. I loved every bit of it growing up and now I am so excited to get to do this with my son! I just want to say how thankful I am for the support we have received from USAC," said Calvin Mathews.
The 2015 schedule has been set. Test and Tune days will begin at noon on April 18th and 25th. Opening Day will be Saturday, May 2, at 3:00 pm. June begins Saturday night racing beginning at 6 pm, August 15th is the annual Fair Race and August 22, is the Klash at the Kanyon. The annual Pumpkin Race will be held at 1:00 pm on October 31.
To find Kart Kanyon Speedway from Aztec, NM, go north on Highway 550 about 1 mile. Turn east on Hwy 173. Kart Kanyon is on the north side of the Highway at mile marker #2.
