Inside Line Promotions – HIGHLANDS, Texas (Nov. 25, 2014) – Channin Tankersley accomplished a major dream during the 2014 season.
“I had always wanted to win a sprint car championship and had come close a few times,” he said. “Thanks to Marvin and Peggy Pearson and all of my great sponsors that dream became a reality this year.”
Tankersley accepted his ASCS Gulf South Region championship trophy last weekend following his most consistent season. He led the region in top fives and top 10s and was tied for the most victories.
“I took a more patient approach to racing this year and it paid off,” he said. “I tried to make smart decisions each night and not to force the issue.”
Tankersley scored a pair of ASCS Gulf South Region victories – June 21 at Royal Purple Raceway in Baytown, Texas, and Sept. 27 at Battleground Speedway in Highlands, Texas – to go with a win at Bronco Raceway Park in Cleveland, Texas, on March 22.
It marked his fourth consecutive season with multiple victories.
“It’s never easy to win races and especially to win a championship,” he said. “The goal for next year is to continue this momentum and put together a better year than this one. I want to thank my family, my sponsors, the people who helped crew for me and the Pearson’s and Bruce Griffith for the support and opportunities to race. I can’t wait for next year.”
