Bitner Enjoying Time Behind the Wheel in Multiple Sprint Divisions in 2014
TRENTON, N.J. - Mark Bitner and company are an enjoying a season filled with a variety of experiences in 2014. The Trenton, N.J., has had several successful nights at the track as well as few tough breaks mixed in. He’s enjoyed several strong efforts in that variety of experiences including a 305 sprint, 360 sprint, 410 non-wing sprint as well as as winged 410 sprint.
During the month of April the team competed in three different events including two races at the Selinsgrove Speedway. Bitner shined against the stars of the Empire Super Sprints with a seventh place effort in their season opener on April 12th. Binter also scored a 13th finish on April 19. His luck took a tough turn a week later at the New Egypt Speedway in 305 sprint completion after he got a flat in the main-event relegating him to a 18th place effort.
His bad luck continued in the month of May as his first outing at the Selinsgrove Speedway resulted in a flip. From there things improved as he earned a sixth place effort in the May 11 at New Egypt with the 305 sprint cars. The tough luck bug bit again when he made his 410 sprint car debut as engine woes sidelined the team efforts on the night as they competed with the World of Outlaws at New Egypt.
June started out with the team’s first non-wing feature of the 2014 season at the Grandview Speedway. Bitner qualified through his heat race and ended the night 16th. The following night the USAC non-wing sprint cars shifted to the Lincoln Speedway where Bitner finished just behind USAC standouts Jon Stambrough and Chase Stockon in his heat race before the feature was ultimately rained out. The following night Bitner returned to New Egypt with USAC. He had a solid effort after qualifying late. He ended the night 15th. A Port Royal Speedway visit with USAC saw the team drive to a 15th place effort before Sunday night’s finale on June 8 was rained out.
By mid-June it was time to but the wing back on. Bitner’s first winged event took place at New Egypt where he drove a 305 sprint car to a top five finish. A few days later he competed in the Turnpike 25 for the 360 sprint cars earning a 10th place effort. A poor draw put the team behind for much of the night. He drove forward throughout the feature to earn the top ten. On June 21st the team returned to the Selinsgrove Speedway where they scored another top ten effort. Bitner finished 9th while running his 358 engine against the more powerful 360 cars.
The team hopes to continue the mid-season momentum as they had to several major events throughout the summer months of July and August. For more information about the team and the up coming schedule visit the team website at http://www.markbitnermotorsports.com/.
