The last race of 2014 season for the Carpetland Nebraska 360 Sprints took place at I-80 Speedway on a cool October evening. 27 sprinters were in the pits vying for the win of the Bobby Parker Memorial Race. Bobby Parker was one of Nebraska's best ever midget drivers, with over 200 wins back in the 50's and an inductee in the Nebraska Auto Racing Hall of Fame.
Winners of the 4 heat races included Danny Lasoski, Gage Dorr, Dusty Zomer and Brian Brown. With the top eight in passing points from the heat races making a the redraw top 16 in points moving on to the A feature, 11 cars raced for the final 4 transfer spots in the B feature, with Troy Schreurs from South Dakota taking the win.
Given there were 279 cars in the pits from various classes all gunning for the Cornhusker Classic title, the track started to wear out from all of the races that had occurred. But given the circumstances, I-80 Speedway was once again fast and extremely racey thanks to the hard work of Steve Kosiski and the Kosiski family and was certain top provide a fast and exciting sprint A Feature. Starting on the pole position was Lincoln's own Don Droud, Jr wheeling the Droud family Dare 2 Race team sprinter. Droud took to the point at the drop of the green flag and maintained a comfortable lead for the first 20 laps of the 25 lap A Main Feature. Chasing Droud from the onset were Brian Brown, Danny Lasoski, driving the Mark Burch 1BK sprinter in Honor of Dean Orth's passing last week, and Billy Alley. Although it was a very cool evening the track began to take some rubber midway through the race as a result of all of the horsepower the fire breathing sprints were generating with what appeared Billy Alley the first to find the rubber down, closing quickly on Lasoski and Brian Brown. However, Alley's surge toward the front was short lived after getting caught up with a spinning Jason Danley put an end to the evening for the Ironwood Builders, Colby Ridge, Carpetland #3 sprinter. At the restart of the race Droud once again held the point until lap 20 when Lasoski found the rubber down and shot toward the front as if he had been shot out of a cannon passing both Brown and Droud in turn 2. The Dude maintained the lead until the checkered flag flew winning the $3000.00 for first place, followed by , Brown,Droud jr, Justin Henderson , Dusty Zomer, Tyler Drueke, Seth Brahmer, Trevor Grossenbacher, Lance Moss and Cody Ledger rounded out the top 10. In addition, Lasoski won the HardCharger award for another $250.00 The $300 ESI draw from the 2-5 positions went to Justin Henderson.
Random Draws for 250.00 went to Jason Danley, Troy Schuers, Trevor Grossenbacher. After the dust Settled the pay out was almost $15,000
