Inside Line Promotions – PUYALLUP, Wash. (Oct. 12, 2014) – Trey Starks is heading to one of his favorite events this weekend.
Starks will tackle the 21st annual Trophy Cup Thursday through Saturday at Thunderbowl Raceway in Tulare, Calif.
“It’s definitely the race that sticks out the most in the year,” he said. “It’s the most interesting and the most exciting. It’s one you look forward to. You know the track is going to be in perfect racing condition.”
Frustrating finishes last season during the Trophy Cup has added motivation for Starks as he races against approximately 75 other top-notch drivers during the premier event.
“You have to be on the ball and know what you’re doing,” he said. “You definitely have to have luck as well.”
Starks has advanced into the prestigious main event in the past and he said not only is that a goal this year, he is aiming to beat his career-best Trophy Cup result of seventh place.
“There are definitely a lot of great drivers there and it’s a tough event, but I think we can compete for my first top five,” he said. “If we put everything together and catch a break or two I think we can go after a win as well.”
Starks was in contention for a top five with the World of Outlaws STP Sprint Car Series at Thunderbowl Raceway earlier this season before he was forced into the infield early with a mechanical problem.
