Inside Line Promotions – MECHANICSBURG, Pa. (Oct. 8, 2014) – Big Game Motorsports pilot Craig Dollansky nearly captured a top 10 during the 52nd annual National Open last Saturday.

Dollansky put together a consistent performance on Saturday at Williams Grove Speedway following Friday’s rainout on the opening night of the World of Outlaws STP Sprint Car Series doubleheader.

“It was a pretty solid night all the way through,” he said. “We got qualified pretty decent for when we went out to qualify.”

The Big Game Treestands team timed in 14th quickest, which started Dollansky on the outside of the front row of a heat race. He took the lead midway through the race en route to the win, which locked him into the dash.

“It took us a little bit in our heat race to get the lead,” he said. “We were able to win our heat race and get ourselves into the dash. The dash draw didn’t go our way and we didn’t gain anything in the dash.”

Dollansky finished ninth in the dash, which lined him up on the inside of the fifth row for the 40-lap, $50,000-to-win main event.

The Big Game Treestands team maintained a top 10 throughout the majority of the feature and Dollansky was running seventh when there was a red flag for a fuel stop with 13 laps remaining.

“We didn’t make a whole lot of changes (during the red flag),” he said. “We put fuel in. But on the restart we couldn’t get going. We lost quite a few positions. It seemed our car was better on the long run. We weren’t able to get ourselves back in the top 10. It was pretty costly on that last restart.”

Dollansky ended with an 11th-place result at the half-mile track.

“I think it was probably one of the best (racing surfaces) I’ve seen there,” he said. “It was a great race track. It had a top and a bottom. It was very racy.”
