Inside Line Promotions – LAKE STEVENS, Wash. (Oct. 6, 2014) – The next race on the slate for Austen Wheatley is the 21st annual Trophy Cup.
The event at Thunderbowl Raceway in Tulare, Calif., Oct. 16-18 is one of the premier 360ci events around the country.
“We haven’t done much 360 racing the past few years,” Wheatley said. “One of the biggest differences between 360 and 410 racing is not being able to correct mistakes quickly. Being smooth and building momentum seems to be more important in the 360s.”
Wheatley has raced six times at four different tracks with a 360ci engine this season. He has earned four top fives and five top 10s in those races.
“Our results have been solid and it’s been good to have success at multiple tracks,” he said. “Hopefully we can continue that at the Trophy Cup, where there will be 75 really good drivers.”
Prior to this season Wheatley hadn’t raced during a 360 event since 2011.
