Inside Line Promotions – LE ROY, N.Y. (Sept. 24, 2014) – Jordan Weaver scored her first feature victory of the season in a unique way.

Weaver, who flew halfway across the country to drive for the Lathan family during the Sprint to the Cure event on Saturday at Limerock Speedway, led the majority of the winged female micro sprint feature before surviving a near disaster in the closing laps.

“I wanted to go there and get the win,” she said. “That was definitely the main goal. Everything went pretty smooth in that class.”

Weaver won her heat race from the pole to advance into the feature redraw. She then pulled the No. 1 to garner the pole position for the 30-lap main event.

“I didn’t lead the first six laps,” she said. “The outside got the jump and then we hit lapped traffic. I think the leader got slowed up a little bit and that allowed me to close the gap. She got tight in the center and I got under her.”

Weaver led the remainder of the feature, but it wasn’t without any close calls.

“I got into a couple of lapped cars with two laps to go,” she said. “I thought I was going to end up on my head. There were three lapped cars racing pretty hard. Going into turn three I was under two of them. They got together and spun out. I ended up jumping a left rear and going for a little bit of a ride. We ended up keeping it straight though.”

Weaver got a good restart following the caution and she held on for the victory.

“It was a great moment,” she said. “It felt pretty good to get the win, especially for the car owners and everybody who worked hard on it. I knew we had a fast car. It was just me settling down enough to do the right stuff.”

The team also competed in three other classes – winged mixed, wingless female and wingless mixed – at Limerock Speedway.

“We were fighting a lot of brake problems,” she said. “We fought brake problems and I sat out one feature to get them right for the winged female feature. They still weren’t perfect, but it was better.”

Weaver skipped the wingless mixed main event and she was unable to finish the wingless female and winged mixed features because of the brake issue.
