Dusty Ballenger grabbed the $1,000 paycheck in the Coffee Cup Fuel Stop Sprint Car feature, but it was not an easy win.
Ballenger led the first seven laps before giving up the lead to Eric Lutz. Lutz led laps 8 – 10 before an incident with traffic would force the Shimdex #5 to go to the infield with damage.
Ballenger would not give up the lead and would see the checkered at lap 25 for his first win in the division in 2014. Jody Rosenboom piloted the #14 from seventh to second ahead of Tommy Barber. Kaley Gharst drove the Valley Springs Body Shop #6 to a fourth place finish ahead of Cody Hahn.
Skylar Prochaska filled in for Bill Boles in the micro sprint #12B and did the best job possible. Prochaska was out front for all 15 laps of the feature for the $1,000 victory. The win is the first at Huset’s for the defending Jackson Speedway 360 sprint champion.
The #11K of Darrin Korthals held off a hard charging Gary Brown to get the win on the Bolte’s Rolloff Service Street Stocks. The victory marks the sixth trophy this year at Huset’s for Korthals.
In similar style, Colter Deutsch visited victory lane in the USRA B-Modified division seventh time in 2014.
The Hobby Stocks battled it out for a $1,000 payday. Early in the event, it was Chad Kuhnert and Dylan Fitzpatrick going back and forth for the lead. But on lap 13, the #6 of Dustin Gulbrandon took over the top spot to go on to his sixth win of 2014 at Huset’s.
The action heats up again this Sunday at 7 p.m.
