Inside Line Promotions – KUTZTOWN, Pa. (Aug. 3, 2014) – Alex Bright took advantage of a late opportunity to race last Wednesday at Action Track USA.

“I went to the track not planning on racing,” he said. “I didn’t do warmups, time trials or a heat race. Then Greg Stevens had me hop in his car for the features. I had my gear bag in the vehicle I drove to the track.”

Bright rallied to a seventh-place finish after lining up on the outside of the seventh row in the micro sprint B Main. Since he missed a transfer position Bright elected to use a provisional to tag the back of the field in the first of two 30-lap main events.

“The car that I was driving was definitely an older car,” he said. “I ran the same tires all night.”

That didn’t slow Bright during the opening feature, when he charged from 28th to a ninth-place finish.

“I started dead last and gave it all I had to get up there,” he said. “I didn’t really make any crazy moves or anything. I picked people off one by one running the top side mainly. The track was pretty good for the first feature.”

That lined him up on the outside of the front row for the second main event.

“In the second feature I ran second until Lap 5 and then I took the lead,” he said. “I held onto that until around Lap 17. Then my tires just went away and I faded back. I held on for as long as I could.”

After leading approximately a dozen laps, Bright dropped to an eighth-place result.

It was his lone event of the week as a pair of ARDC Midget races were cancelled last weekend.

This week Bright is scheduled to compete with the series at New Egypt Speedway in New Egypt, N.J., where he registered a second-place finish in June.
