PETERSEN MEDIA: With two nights of action on the books last weekend, Jac Haudenschild and his Destiny Motorsports team put together a nice solid weekend as they ran third at the Wilmot Raceway before scoring a fourth place finish at the Huset’s Speedway on Sunday night.
Saturday night saw ‘The Wild Child’ time the MonDak Portables/Benic Enterprises/Rick Rogers Construciton No. 9w in with the second fastest lap during qualifications.
Working from his sixth starting spot for finish fourth in heat race action, Haudenschild would transfer to the main, and would also earn a spot in the dash, where his win would put him on the pole of the feature event.
As the green flag waived, Haudenschild jumped into the lead, but the yellow quickly flew, bunching the field back up for a complete restart.
The second attempt at the start also went Haudenschild’s way as he jumped out to an early lead with Tim Kaeding on his tail.
Cautions and red flags marred the race, and on the third lap, the caution flew, bunching the field back up.
Getting a good restart, Haudenschild continued to lead, and soon found himself in lapped traffic.
Navigating through traffic, Haudenschild would lose the lead to Billy Balog as he now ran in the second spot.
With more restarts and stoppages slowing the pace of the race, Haudenschild would fall to third on a mid race restart, and he now found himself chasing after Balong, and Dale Blaney.
With the race never getting into a long green flag run, Haudenschild was forced to try and gain ground on restarts, but he was unable to get back by Blaney and Balog, and ended his night with a third place finish.
“We had a third place car,” Haudenschild said. “Dale Blaney is really good when it gets really slick that, and he got the better of us. We are pretty good right now, not great, but were going in the right direction.”
Sunday night saw the team check into the Huset’s Speedway in Brandon, SD, and after a lengthy hiatus from the track, Haudenschild timed in ninth fastest.
Picking up the heat race win from his front row starting position, Haudenschild would earn a spot in the dash, where he would finish fourth, putting his entry in the second row of the feature event.
In a very exciting feature event that saw the top five race wheel to wheel all night long, Haudenschild battled with Ian Madsen, Rico Abreu, Sammy Swindell, and Craig Dollansky for the duration of the race.
On the tight ¼ mile Haudenschild stayed right in the thick of things for all 30-laps, and the end result was a fourth place finish for the Wooster, OH driver.
“Overall it was a good weekend for us with third and fourth place finishes,” he said. “It was nice getting back to Huset’s for the first time in a while, and all of us are looking forward to racing in Williston, ND, our car owners hometown, this week.”
