Part of the history of the BiGFooT Racing Teams finds it roots in the Bill Bookout/Charlie Wells modified and super modified race cars of the 60's and 70's. One of the phrases used to describe Charlie's racing style was "wreckers or checkers". Unfortunately it applies somewhat to the results for the BiGFooT sprinter this year. In the four races that Michael has competed in and finished the "A" Feature without incident, he has finishes of 1st, 5th, 5th, & 12th. In the other five races, problems with brakes, motor, rear end linkage and two wrecks have made the car not competitive.
At Humboldt on Friday, July 18, Michael raced to a 5th place finish in the "A" Feature, a race in which he made a dramatic two-car pass to finish well. On Saturday, July 19, Michael was unable to avoid a car that spun directly in front of him and significant front end damage took him out of that race. Thanks to the efforts of Michael and the BiGFooT crew along with Shayla Waddell and Derek Cottrell and their crews, enough repairs were made to the sprinter enabling it to race in the "B" Feature, but with time constraints adjustments for the race and re-installation of the front wing were not completed and car was not competitive.
Drivers and teams have various ideas on increasing one's good luck and decreasing the bad. This week's associated pic is both a real and a symbolic action to rid the team of some of the bad luck. Michael and the team WILL rise from the ashes and compete well for the rest of the season.
