Inside Line Promotions – PUYALLUP, Wash. (July 20, 2014) – Trey Starks has been in contention for a victory during the Bob’s Burgers & Brew Summer Nationals in each of the past three years.
However, Starks is searching for his first victory during the $10,000-to-win event at Skagit Speedway in Alger, Wash.
“We always seem to do well at 360 Nationals,” he said. “I’m looking forward to it. It’s a fun place to run with a 360. It’s really competitive.”
This year’s two-day show starts with preliminary action this Friday before the finale on Saturday.
“You need to get good points on the first night,” he said. “Skagit is a really tough place to race from the back. If you’re not up front it’s really hard to get through because the racing is so tight and visibility is low sometimes. You can get yourself in a lot of trouble in a hurry.”
Starks earned his best result during preliminary competition in 2012 when he led part of the race before finishing second. He ended sixth in the finale the following night, which was one spot lower than his career-best result in the Bob’s Burgers & Brew finale in 2011.
Last season was another close one with Starks placing fourth in the preliminary night before mechanical issues ended his finale early while he was running fifth.
“I want to win,” he said. “We’ve had too many top fives. It’d be a great race to win. I’m looking for my first win of the season. I think 360 Nationals would be as good of a win as any.”
Starks has a pair of top-six finishes in four races at Skagit Speedway this season.
