Inside Line Promotions – WEST MEMPHIS, Ark. (July 16, 2014) – Brandon Hanks is ready to put last weekend behind him.

Following a late decision to tackle the USCS Speedweek finale on Saturday at Riverside International Speedway, Hanks and his team struggled on the tricky track after a high draw started them in the back of a heat race.

“We just had a bad draw,” he said. “Somebody had to make a mistake for you to pass or you had to get a great run out of the corners and drag race them down the straightaway. It was heavy around the bottom. If you got on the top they’d eat you alive on the bottom.”

Hanks advanced from seventh to fifth place in his heat race, which relegated him to a B Main. After finishing second in the consolation race, he started the main event on the inside of the ninth row.

“We had made it up to about 10th and we were all riding around the bottom,” he said. “Dalton Davis had passed me on the outside. I thought he found something and I went up top to make something happen and I couldn’t do it like he did. I lost a few spots and then went back to running the bottom.”

Hanks ended with a 12th-place result.

He is headed to Oklahoma this weekend for an ASCS Sooner Region doubleheader. The action kicks off on Friday at Creek County Speedway in Sapulpa, where Hanks has finishes of 12th and 11th, respectively, this season.

“Creek County is my favorite,” he said. “I like the little bullring stuff. I’ve always liked the little bitty race tracks.”

Hanks will wrap up the weekend on Saturday at Lawton Speedway in Lawton. He finished 15th in his lone race at the track this year.

“I like Lawton,” he said. “I just haven’t had a good result there. We were looking to have a good result last time, but I screwed up in the heat race and we got behind. I hope we can turn things around there. We’re fast and we’re confident. We just need a little bit of luck.”
