Inside Line Promotions – ROSSBURG, Ohio (July 15, 2014) – Big Game Motorsports driver Sammy Swindell has been on a tear recently.

Consistency in qualifying and heat race victories have made the Big Game Treestands car a regular contender in World of Outlaws STP Sprint Car Series dashes during the past couple of weeks.

Swindell capitalized on another strong performance last Friday to capture his second World of Outlaws triumph of the season by winning the Knight Before the Kings Royal at Eldora Speedway.

After qualifying fifth quickest, finishing fourth in his heat race and placing second in the dash, Swindell lined up on the outside of the front row for the 30-lap main event.

“I concentrated on making sure I had my car tight enough,” he said. “We were probably too tight. We just got the motor back from Kistler that he made a couple of changes. We were a little conservative on the fuel and that probably cost us a little power, but it worked out. It’s always a balance.”

Polesitter Tim Shaffer took the lead at the start with the Big Game Treestands car in tow. Swindell closed the gap as the drivers entered traffic and he took the lead on Lap 14.

“If you get the tires too hot you lose grip,” he said. “It’s trying to run a good pace and run good laps.”

Swindell did just that and he executed perfectly during a handful of restarts to maintain the lead en route to his 36th career win at Eldora Speedway.

“We were getting some great restarts and able to put a gap and maintain it,” he said. “I did most everything right that night and we got a win. Everything looked great after the race so we had a pretty good direction the next night.”

Swindell continued his momentum on Saturday at the 31st annual Kings Royal. He qualified third quickest and advanced from fourth to second place in his heat race, which lined the Big Game Treestands car up ninth for the $50,000-to-win feature.

“On the start I was behind (Kerry) Madsen and they checked up and I got against him,” Swindell said. “The guy behind me bumped me and it smashed the nose wing. It killed the downforce on the car. Every time I moved the top wing back it lifted the front wheels off the ground. I was hoping for an early open red so we could change it, but it didn’t come until a couple of laps to go.”

With an ill-handling car and stuck in traffic most of the race, Swindell dropped to a 17th-place result.

That kind of luck also hampered the Big Game Treestands team last Wednesday during the 26th annual Brad Doty Classic at Limaland Motorsports Park in Lima, Ohio.

After qualifying 11th quickest and winning both his heat race and the dash, Swindell led 30 of the first 31 laps during the main event before the car began to handle differently.

“We probably had the car more set up to run that race on through,” he said. “We ran so long and had so many reds and yellows, the tires sealed up. We came up a little bit short. I got real, real loose after the last restart and just didn’t have any grip.”

Swindell fell to a seventh-place finish in the final nine laps.

He and the Big Game Treestands car are scheduled to compete this Saturday at Knoxville Raceway in Knoxville, Iowa.
