PETERSEN MEDIA: Spending the Fourth of July near his hometown, Jac Haudenschild scored a hard fought second place finish before having a tough night with the All Star Circuit of Champions.
Timing the MonDak Portables/Renegade Rentals/Champion Brand Lubricants entry in ninth fastest at the Hilltop Speedway, the ‘Wild Child’ went on to charge from fourth in his heat race to pick up the win.
With the heat race win, the Wooster, OH driver lined up for the feature event in the second row, but when the green flag dropped he quickly worked into the second spot.
In second, Haudenschild had his nose all over early race leader, Derek Hagar. Doing all he could to get around Hagar, Haudenschild was relentless in his attack, as he never let up.
Coming to the checkered, Haudenschild had Hagar in his sights, but was unable to get around him and finished in the second position.
Haudenschild’s week kicked off on Wednesday night at the Atomic Speedway, as he timed the Rick Rogers Construction/Benic Enterprises/Triple X Components machine in ninth fastest.
Charging from fourth to first in his heat race, Haudenschild earned a spot in the dash, where his sixth place finish put him in the third row of the feature event.
Running sixth much of the feature event, Haudenschild hounded Lee Jacobs for the fifth spot, and as the duo battled for the spot late in the race, Haudenschild got out of shape, and brought his machine to a stop. He would end up coming back to score a 14th place finish.
Saturday night with the UNOH All Star Circuit of Champions at the Wayne County Speedway, Haudenschild kicked his night off with a fifth quick qualifying effort, putting him in the second heat race, where he would finish in the second position.
A fifth place finish in the Dash, put ‘The Wild Child’ in the third row of the feature event.
With the track continuing to slick off, most drivers fought for position on the bottom of the speedway during the feature event, and opting to try to make something else work, Haudenschild went to the high side, and relentlessly tried to make something happen, but it did not work out for him.
The end result was a 19th place finish.
“Running close to home is always a good time,” Haudenschild said. “It’s cool to run with my family members and we got to do that at Wayne County, and at Hilltop where we ran well and finished on the podium with Sheldon (Haudenschild). We didn’t have the result we wanted at Wayne County, but I was pretty proud to be there for Sheldon’s firs All Star win. We have a big week coming up, and we will keep at it and hopefully have some good results.”
