Inside Line Promotions – HIGHLANDS, Texas (July 7, 2014) – Travis Rilat is set for his first trip of the season to the Northwest this weekend.

Rilat and car owner Richard Saumure will tackle Grays Harbor Raceway in Elma, Wash., on Friday and Saturday for the Summer Thunder Sprint Series.

“It’s going to be a lot of fun,” Rilat said. “It’s a beautiful track and I always enjoy going out to the Northwest.”

Rilat picked up a Lucas Oil ASCS National Tour victory at the 3/8-mile oval last season and he added five additional podiums in the state of Washington. Rilat also earned a pair of top fives in as many races at Grays Harbor Raceway in 2012 and he garnered an ASCS National Tour triumph in 2009.

“We’ve run well at Grays Harbor in the past and hopefully we can put together a couple of consistent races this weekend,” he said.

This weekend will mark the first time this season Rilat has competed in the United States outside of his home state of Texas, where he ran into a couple of issues last weekend with the ASCS Gulf South Region.

After maneuvering from sixth to third place in his heat race on Friday at Shady Oaks Speedway in Goliad, Rilat was in contention for a top five during the main event. However, an oil filter gasket blew while Rilat was running sixth and he was forced to exit the track with nine laps remaining. He was credited with a 10th-place result.

On Saturday, Rilat charged from fifth to second place in his heat race at Battleground Speedway. After starting the feature on the inside of the third row, Rilat was caught up in an early crash that knocked the front axle out of his car. He was unable to restart the race and ended 17th.
