Inside Line Promotions – NEWMANSTOWN, Pa. (July 6, 2014) – Alex Bright took advantage of his first opportunity to pilot the Hyper Chassis house car on Saturday at Lanco Speedway.
Bright garnered the Hard Charger Award and his 27th top 10 of the season during the Firecracker Frenzy in a winged micro sprint owned by Mike Dicely.
“I can’t thank Mike enough for letting me run his car and show what the Hyper cars can do,” Bright said.
After finishing where he started – seventh – in his first heat race, Bright advanced from third to second place in his second heat. That gave him the 18th-most points and the final lock-in position for the 30-lap feature, which he started on the outside of the ninth row.
“The track was tricky,” he said. “The track was real rough so there weren’t too many lanes to drive on. I moved up to 11th in the first 10 laps or so and then kinda held my own there. I made some adjustments to the car and moved up to eighth by the end of the feature. As I got to the faster cars it took longer to get by them.”
Bright’s charge from 18th to an eighth-place result was satisfying.
“There was really only one lane you could go without making a mistake,” he said. “There was not much you could do. For the first time in the car and second time at that track this year, I feel like we didn’t have a bad run.”
Bright is slated to compete this Wednesday at Action Track USA in Kutztown, Pa., in a wingless micro sprint before returning to competition in his midget on Saturday at Bridgeport Speedway in Swedesboro, N.J.
