Inside Line Promotions – PARK CITY, Kan. (July 2, 2014) – Jack Dover rebounded from a tough start to last weekend.

Following rainouts on Friday at I-80 Speedway in Greenwood, Neb., and on Saturday at Butler County Speedway in Rising City, Neb., Dover was forced to pull off the track early during his heat race on Sunday at 81 Speedway because of an overheating problem.

“We went out for hot laps and put in two sets,” he said. “Then they called for the first heat race, which I was in. I had just put my engine heater in. With that and how hot my engine was, it took all the water out of it so I knew we were going to overheat. I took the green flag and pulled off on the second lap.”

That relegated Dover to the back of the B Main.

“On the third lap we were up to fifth,” he said. “I was just driving my butt off. I was so mad from the heat race. I was just going wherever they weren’t.”

Dover rallied from 13th to finish second in the consolation race to garner a transfer to the back of the main event.

“We really didn’t change much from the B Main,” he said. “I pretty much ran the top side. Everyone else was trying to run the middle and bottom. I was keeping my momentum on the top.”

After starting the feature on the outside of the eighth row, Dover charged to a sixth-place result. It marked his 15th top 10 in 16 races this season.

“I’d call it a good night,” he said. “That shows how good our car was and our motor. I know if we would have started up front we probably could have won it.”
