Inside Line Promotions – CLAY, N.Y. (July 1, 2014) – Mucci Motorsports is putting the final touches on a brand new car as driver Joe Trenca prepares for the Lucas Oil Empire Super Sprints Speedweek.
“We have to finish getting the brand new car ready,” he said. “We’ve got to fire it tonight and do some little stuff. One motor is getting brought up tomorrow and we’re going to drop it in the backup car.”
The team spent the past week creating a new car for the busy week of racing, which features five races in as many days at different tracks throughout New York.
“The draw is going to be pretty big each night,” he said. “Sometimes there’s not a lot of passing. Starting position is going to be huge. If you do get a bad draw you’re going to have to do a bonsai move on the opening lap. Our starts have been really good this year. We’re taking off great.”
The action begins on Wednesday at Brewerton Speedway in Brewerton, where Trenca finished 14th in his most recent appearance last season.
Then Rolling Wheels Raceway Park in Elbridge hosts a race on Thursday.
“I really like Rolling Wheels,” he said. “I like the bigger, faster tracks. I think running in Pennsylvania has helped with that. We haven’t had good luck at Rolling Wheels, so I’m hoping to turn that around this week.”
On Friday, Trenca will tackle Can-Am Motorsports Park in LaFargeville, where he placed 11th earlier this season during his lone visit.
Fulton Speedway in Fulton is the site of an event on Saturday before the Speedweek wraps up on Sunday at Utica-Rome Speedway in Vernon.
“The goal is to get my first win of my career in a sprint car,” he said. “That’s the monkey on our back right now. We’ve been fast about every week. We’re close. Making all the shows and finishing in the top 10 in all of them would be almost as good as a win.”
