Haudenschild Closes Speedweek Second in Points

PETERSEN MEDIA: Not ending Ohio Speedweek quite they way they had hoped, Jac Haudenschild and his Destiny Motorsports team's entire week was good enough to give them second overall in Speedweek points, only behind a red hot, Dale Blaney.

On Thursday night at the Fremont Speedway, Haudenschild continued to stay consistent in Time Trials, as he stopped the clock aboard his MonDak Portables/Renegade Rentals/Champion Brand Lubricants entry 11th fastest.

Heat race action saw the Wooster, OH pilot work his way to second spot, and that would put him in the fourth row of the 40-lap feature event.

Once green, Haudenschild quickly jumped into the sixth spot, as he chased after Cap Henry, and Gary Taylor, who raced just in front of the Rick Rogers Construction/Benic Enterprises/Triple X Components No. 9w.

Up to the fourth spot on a lap seven restart, Haudenschild continued to work on Henry, and would finally take the third spot from him on the 13th lap, as he then set his sights on the lead duo of James McFadden and Dale Blaney.

Running third for much of the race, a lap 35 caution bunched the field up, and over the final five laps, ‘The Wild Child’ and McFadden thrilled the crowd as they exchanged slide jobs battling over the second spot, and at the line McFadden narrowly beat Haudenschild, giving Haudenschild the final spot on the podium.

James, and I had a real good race going there. We slid back and forth a few times,” Haudenschild said. “That was fun.”

Friday night at Limaland, Haudenschild had his woes in time trials, as he timed in 28th fastest, putting him at the back of his heat race.

Running seventh in his heat, “Haud” would be forced to run the B main, where his run from the ninth starting spot to finish fourth transferred him into the feature, though he would have his work cut out for him.

Lining up 23rd for the 40-lap feature event, Haudenschild showed early that he might be a contender as he surged forward in just six laps, as he had worked his way up to the 13th spot.

On the extremely slick surface, Haudenschild continued to search for grip to continue his run, but he was unable to move forward the rest of the night, and finished in the 15th spot.

Closing Ohio Speedweek out on Saturday night back at the Fremont Speedway, Haudenschild’s 43rd quick qualifying time really put him in a hole.

Finishing eighth in his heat race, ‘The Wild Child’ lined up 23rd in the night’s B main event, and did what he could in 12-laps and scored a 16th place finish, ending his week.

“The last couple of nights the tracks were really slick, but they still put on good shows,” he said. “Overall it was nice to finish second in points.”
