Bristol, WI – June 25, 2014. Mother Nature has been playing havoc with Wisconsin race tracks this spring and this weekend was no different. Bill and the B2 Motorsports team headed to the saturated grounds of the Oshkosh Speedzone Raceway in Oshkosh, WI this past weekend for their second visit of the season. After the team’s hauler was pulled into their pit stall, the team prepared for what looked like a heavy race track. The track crew packed the track tight providing slick, smooth conditions for hot laps and qualifying. Bill would lay down the fastest lap of the twenty-three cars on hand setting him up with a 6th place starting position in the first heat race. Track conditions changed drastically after several heats of small wheeled street stocks and grand nationals throwing a curveball at the teams as they now had a cowboy up track. Bill would make his way into the 3rd position within a few laps, but the top two cars pulled to a sizeable lead immediately setting Bill up with a 3rd place finish in the heat race. Bill would draw the #3 pill for the feature invert lining him up in the 6th place starting position for the thirty lap event. Bill quickly made his way into the 4th position when racing started trailing 2nd and 3rd place by car lengths. Bill would make his way into 3rd, but it was negated because the caution would fly. On the restart, Bill make his way around the 2nd and 3rd place cars, but once again the caution would fly sending him back to restart in the 4th position. Once the green was out again, Bill would fall in line until lap traffic came into place and he would make his way into 2nd place. On lap twenty-two Bill would make his way past race-long leader Ben Schmidt and dominate the remainder of the race and win his 4th straight race of 2014 over Schmidt and Steve Meyer.
The team made it to the Wilmot Raceway in Wilmot, WI on Saturday, but Mother Nature spoiled any chance of racing as rain began to fall around 4:30 washing out the night.
The team removed the wings on Sunday before they headed to the Angell Park Speedway in Sun Prairie, WI to take on the non-winged warriors of the United States Auto Club. Rained postponed the show after five cars had qualified causing the show to be started over after track prep was redone. Bill would lay down the 10th fastest lap of the eighteen cars on hand setting him up with a 2nd place starting position in the heat race. Bill would drop back to 6th in the heat race where he would finish, but was also keeping up with the lead pack. Starting in the 10th position in the feature, Bill would race as low as the 13th position, but as high as 8th and end up finishing in the 9th position after 30 laps. Bill also ran the Lein Acres #2 midget in the Badger Midgets portion of the show. Qualifying was scrapped after the rain setting up a passing points show. Bill would start in the 3rd position and move forward into the 2nd position. Bill would be right on the tail of the leader ready to pounce, but the leader spun and Bill would inherit the lead. Bill would hold the lead the remainder of the heat race picking up the heat race victory. Bill would be the highest point man setting him up with a 6th place starting position. Bill would try to make his way forward in the feature, but with the track used up he would end up losing positions as he tried to make something happen on several occasions and ended up finishing in the 9th position.
This weekend, the team has three races on tap, all with the World of Outlaws. First up is the 34 Raceway in Burlington, IA on Friday, June 27th. The team will then head back to Beaver Dam, WI to the third-mile oval of the Beaver Dam Raceway on Saturday, June 28th. Last year Bill won the B-main and then charged forward seven positions to finish in the 11th position. The weekend will wrap up in New Richmond, WI at the Cedar Lake Speedway on Sunday, June 29th. Bill finished 6th last year at the three-eighths mile oval when the Outlaws were in town.
