It was mid-season championship night on Saturday for Craig Dollansky and the Big Game Treestands #7 team as they signed into Knoxville Raceway in southern Iowa for another night of action with the Knoxville Championship Cup Series.
After getting a feel for the racing surface in hotlaps, Dollansky went out late in qualifying recording the 8th fastest lap of the 27 drivers at 16.204 seconds. Eighteen cars inverted into three heat races would then put the Eyecon Trail Cameras backed sprinter outside row two of heat two where the Elk River, Minnesota native finished 5th.
Five additional laps for mid-season championship night meant the feature would go 25-laps in distance with the Aggressive Hydraulics Maxim starting on the pole position after an eight car inversion draw. When the green flag waved, outside pole starter Lynton Jeffrey took the lead by lap 2 but Dollansky closed the gap on the #12 just five circuits later recapturing the top spot. As ‘The Crowd Pleaser’ sliced through lapped traffic navigating all over the ½-mile, the pilot of the #7 extended his lead powering to the checkered flag in the non-stop feature by nearly a four second advantage.
"Winning at Knoxville is not easily done but we have a great race team with great support behind us from Tod & Lisa Quiring of Big Game Treestands, Paul & Jenn Johnson of Aggressive Hydraulics, Maxim, and others,” commented Dollansky who scored his 4th victory of the season. “We’re going to keep working on this race team and getting stronger. I felt like we were getting through lapped traffic pretty good and hope the fans enjoyed the show.”
