Inside Line Promotions – MESQUITE, Texas (June 18, 2014) – Brandon Hanks is riding momentum as he heads into four straight days of racing.

Hanks rallied to post a 13th-place result last Saturday at Devil’s Bowl Speedway during the opening round of the Bob Westphal Memorial Cup Speedweek, which continues today with four consecutive Lucas Oil ASCS National Tour events this week.

“The goal is to lock into the main event and finish in the top 10 every night,” he said. “That’s the main thing. I’m just looking forward to four straight days of racing. I’ve never done that before.”

This week’s action kicks off today at Lawton Speedway in Lawton, Okla., before races on Thursday at Creek County Speedway in Sapulpa, Okla.; on Friday at Outlaw Motorsports Park in Wainwright, Okla.; and on Saturday at Lucas Oil Speedway in Wheatland, Mo.

Hanks has momentum rolling into this week thanks to a strong performance last Saturday. After starting on the pole of his heat race, Hanks picked up his second ASCS National Tour heat win of the season.

“We led from start to finish,” he said. “It was smooth sailing. The car was on a rail. It was pretty much perfect.”

Unfortunately, Hanks missed the feature redraw by only one position and he started the main event on the inside of the fifth row.

“In the first corner of the first lap the car bicycled when I went to the cushion,” he said. “I went off the track and fell to the back. The car was so tight. I had just pulled into the infield (around Lap 10) and the caution came out. I caught a break there.”

Hanks’ team made a quick adjustment to loosen the car during the caution. After restarting at the back of the field, Hanks maneuvered to the 13th-place finish.

“It’s going to be busy this week so hopefully we can have a few successful runs and keep building momentum,” he said.
