Inside Line Promotions – KNOXVILLE, Iowa (June 17, 2014) – Jamie Ball is looking for that one small edge to propel him and the White Lightning Motorsports team into Victory Lane.

Ball recorded another top 10 last Saturday at Knoxville Raceway, where he was in contention to win during the early portion of the 360 main event.

“We get so close and I think we’re battling a little bit of a tire issue with these new tires they’ve got,” he said. “We ran them last year and didn’t have any problems with them. We’ve had big inconsistencies with stagger this year. I grew an inch and a half in the feature on Saturday. An inch and a half change is a huge deal.”

After qualifying sixth quickest and finishing fourth in his heat race, Ball started the main event on the inside of the second row.

“It seems like we’re peaking at the beginning and I’d like to be peaking at the end,” he said. “My first five laps were good and then it progressively got worse.”

Ball competed in a three-car battle for the lead during the first handful of laps before he dropped several positions during the middle of the feature.

“For two laps if I had to make a decision I made the wrong one,” he said. “I went from second to eighth in three laps. I need to make some different choices and decisions as a driver. I’ve got to put the car in the right spot and focus on racing my race.”

Despite the loose race car, Ball held on for an eighth-place result, which was his sixth top 10 of the season.

White Lightning Motorsports didn’t see much time in the 410 class as the World of Outlaws STP Sprint Car Series made its lone visit to Knoxville Raceway prior to this summer’s Knoxville Nationals.

Larry Ball Jr. developed an oil leak in his engine during his qualifying attempt and he decided to shut it down for the remainder of the night prior to heat race action.

“We’re a small team and we don’t have the budget to go and blow engines,” Jamie Ball said. “Plus it was only a show-up points night for the 410s. The engine is back at Ostrich this week and it should be good to go for this Saturday.”

Devin Kline will also return to competition this Saturday at Knoxville Raceway in the 305 class.
