SAPULPA, Okla. (June 17, 2014) - A major turnaround from Friday night at the Timberline Speedway, Blake Hahn posted his best finish of the season against the Lucas Oil American Sprint Car Series presented by MAVTV American Real, at the Devil's Bowl Speedway on Saturday, June 14.
Going back to Friday night, Hahn joined the Smiley's Racing Products Lone Star Region at the Timberline Speedway in Corley, Texas.
Taking a brand new car to the three-eighths mile oval, a few gremlins appeared for Hahn who said the car would enter well, but suddenly snap loose in the center of the corner. Suffering a DNF after contact with another driver that knocked the front axle out of the car, Hahn and crew made the decision to swap cars for Saturday night.
"We didn't really want to spend all our time tinkering with the new car, so we went ahead and brought the other car down. It's a good car, we just need to fine tune it and get the bugs out."
The swap was just what Hahn needed, as the Old School Racing No. 17 crossed second to Seth Bergman at the famed half-mile; a track that Hahn has struggled at over the years, "I'm not a fan of big tracks so anytime we can go out there and finish well is great," commented Hahn on his run at the Devil's Bowl.
"We ran sixth earlier this year, and I was excited about having that as a best finish at Devil's Bowl. This time, we went down and drew good for the Heat Race, made the redraw and drew third so I had a good starting spot. Really, I just held my ground in the A-Feature and ran third most of the race until Tony [Bruce] started losing an engine and we were able to grab second."
Second in Speedweek standings going into Wednesday night at the Lawton Speedway, the question of winning Speedweek arose with Hahn replying, "It would be really nice. We haven't done real spectacular this year, but we've been somewhat consistent, but if we can go in and do well over these next couple races, then I think we can do it."
Blake Hahn will be in action four consecutive nights with the Lucas Oil ASCS National Tour at Lawton Speedway on Wednesday, June 18; Creek County Speedway on Thursday, June 19; Outlaw Motorsports Park on Friday, June 20; and Lucas Oil Speedway on Saturday, June 21.
